We welcome volunteers. Volunteering at the Library is a way to learn new skills, meet people and make a difference in your community. If you are interested volunteering at the Library, email us at volunteer@fergusonlibrary.org. Please indicate in the subject line which volunteer opportunity you are interested in and include a little about your background and qualifications.
As part of our hiring procedure, we may do a standard background check if you are selected.
Thank you for your interest!
Discover Meaningful Ways to Volunteer at the Library
English As Second Language Volunteers
Would you like to help others learn English? Our Let’s Talk English Conversation Groups are run by volunteers, who help adult learners practice their English. Volunteers at weekly sessions at the Main Library and South End Branch facilitate conversations and help with grammar, vocabulary and mastering communication skills.
Other General Volunteer Duties
We also need volunteers to teach patrons how to use self-checkout machines at the Main Library or Harry Bennett Branch, and help with general library tasks, such as locating materials on the shelves, stocking up supplies, labeling and prepping books, etc.
The Friends of The Ferguson Library
The Friends of The Ferguson Library operate successful book shops at the Main Library and Harry Bennett Branch. They need volunteers to work in the shops, help sort books and other jobs associated with running a book store. These shops are almost entirely volunteer-run, and are a great way to connect with others who share an interest in books. Book Shop volunteer application
