Main Library (DiMattia Building)

Location Information

The Main Library, DiMattia Building, is open seven days a week. It is located in the heart of downtown Stamford in a 1909 building that underwent a top-to-bottom renovation in 2010. The collections in this facility are extensive and serve as the backbone of the whole system. A new materials room off the lobby features new books and DVDs, and offers a light-filled space to browse or read. Our Youth Department is housed on both the first floor and lower levels, with large collections and technology stations for children and teens.

The Main Library’s second floor is our dedicated research floor, and includes the Small Business Resource Center, as well as research guides and other special collections.

The third floor computer lab provides self-paced programs for English language learners as well as regular computer and Internet training. The Rotary Room offers a space for conferencing and discussions, and the auditorium is a venue for films, author visits and other programs. We also host regular art exhibits curated by the Stamford Art Association.

The Friends of The Ferguson operates an award-winning book shop on the first floor of the Library, next to Starbucks. The door between Starbucks and the book shop is always open during Library hours.

The Library’s main passport facility is located on the lower level of the Main Library.
