The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program helps households pay for primary heating bills. If the household’s primary heating costs are included in your rent, you may also apply for assistance. Benefits available to individuals earning less than $35,116 per year (increases depending on family size).

Note: You can also sign-up for the Winter Protection Plan to ensure energy is not shut off during the winter due to unpaid bills. Must be renewed each October.  To sign up call Eversource at 800-286-2828.

Operation Fuel

Operation Fuel provides a one-time grant of up to $500 to assist families with their energy bills. Provides benefit to individuals making less than $43,894 (increases depending on family size). To apply call the number above.

Note: When the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is accepting applications, Operation Fuel requires that all clients apply for CEAP prior to applying for an Operation Fuel grant.

Energize CT will send a technician to your house to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy bills. You may qualify for free or reduced cost to implement the recommendations.
