Influencer and American businesswoman Bozoma Saint John will discuss her book, The Urgent Life. The conversation will be moderated by Ruthie Hubbard.

When Bozoma Saint John's husband, Peter, died of cancer, she made one big decision: to live life urgently. Bozoma had been no stranger to adversity, having lost her college boyfriend to suicide, navigated an interracial marriage, grieved a child born prematurely (an experience that led to her and Peter's separation), and co-parented the daughter she shared with Peter. In The Urgent Life, Bozoma takes readers through the dizzying, numbing days of multiple griefs, and the courage which these sparked in her to live life in accordance with her deepest values.

Bozoma's story is extraordinary, but her grief is not uncommon, Her story will resonate with anyone who has loved and mourned and is finding a path through loss and grief, as well as anyone wants to live life to its fullest.

Ms. Saint John worked most recently as the Global Chief Marketing Officer at Netflix. She began her career at Spike Lee’s advertising agency, then went on to become a senior marketing executive at Pepsi, Apple Music, Uber and Endeavor. She has been featured on the cover of Adweek as, “one of the most exciting personalities in advertising,” and has been inducted into the American Advertising Federation Hall of Achievement and the American Marketing Hall of Fame, among others. She was named the #1 most influential CMO by Forbes in 2021, and has created a successful online tutorial, “The Badass Workshop,” which teaches how to be our greatest selves. 

Ruthie Hubbard is a master in analyzing human behavior and deconstructing consumer habits. She was the expert charged by Google to help finance, travel and pharmaceutical advertisers identify what their end consumers are doing on YouTube, and how they can effectively reach and engage them. As a Strategy & Insights Manager, she creates competitive positioning statements about YouTube against other social and digital media platforms like TikTok, Netflix, Hulu and Peacock. She is currently looking for new career opportunities where she can connect institutions with actionable insights, and create compelling narratives that drive key product decisions.

A graduate of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing & Communications, Ms. Hubbard also holds a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
