In The Accident, a small Connecticut town is reeling after a beloved high school football player is killed in a hit-and-run accident and young Hannah suspects that her older brother Rob and his best friend Zach, her crush, may be responsible. As the police investigation unfolds, Hannah vows to protect her brother and Zach but she is burdened by the weight of the secret she must keep. Tensions mount as Hannah learns that she and Rob are not the only ones in the family with a secret. As two different versions of the truth about the accident emerge, Hannah questions everything, forcing her to decide where her loyalties lie.
