Program Description

Event Details

A panel discussion moderated by Dr. Alfred Fusco about Italian American contributions to the Stamford Community. These contributions have not only changed Stamford’s skyline but also its political, religious, commercial and cultural scenes.

Before they could fully contribute to Stamford, Italian Americans needed to create a supportive community to assist them in overcoming obstacles they faced in their adopted country. The formation of Sacred Heart Church (an Italian National Parish) was important in this regard. It is therefore fitting to celebrate the church's centennial as part of Italian heritage in Stamford.

Panelists include Anthony Socci, Mary Lou Rinaldi and Kim Harke Sushon.

The event will be accompanied by an exhibit in the library lobby highlighting the history of the Sacred Heart Church from 1923 to 2023. The exhibit will be on view from Sunday, October 15 to Saturday, November 4.

Presented in partnership with UNICO, Stamford Chapter.
