Event Details

Enjoy bilingual performances representing various Latin American folkloric dance traditions.

The Ballet Folklórico de las Americas will perform the Mexican Jarabe Tapatío, a courtship dance; the Colombian Cumbia, a fusion of African, indigenous and Spanish movement traditions that originated in the Caribbean Coast; and the Venezuelan Joropo, a group dance characterized by its fast tempo, intricate footwork, and the use of the harp, cuatro and maracas.

The academy Taller Portal Norteño will present La Marinera, a traditional Peruvian partner dance.
