Event Details

Musician and author Geoff Rickly will discuss his debut novel, Someone Who Isn’t Me, the feverish journey of a man seeking psychedelic ibogaine treatment for heroin addiction at a clinic in Mexico to confront the darkest and most destructive versions of himself. This modern reimagining of the Divine Comedy is based on Rickly's own experience with heroin addiction.

The conversation will be moderated by Andrew Sacher, senior editor and podcast host at BrooklynVegan, the New York City-based music blog.

Light refreshments will be served; book sale and signing will follow the discussion.

Registration required for in-person attendance.

Also available via Zoom; Log in here at the scheduled time.

Geoff Rickly is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and songwriter of rock band Thursday. Rickly is also a member of hardcore punk band United Nations and the alternative rock group No Devotion with former members of Lostprophets. He is the founder of the record label Collect Records.

Andrew Sacher has been writing about music at Brooklyn Vegan since 2010. He leads the weekly album reviews column "Notable Releases" and the monthly punk column "In Defense of the Genre." A lifelong Thursday fan, he has interviewed Rickly in the past, and written extensively about Thursday and Rickly's other projects. When not writing, Sacher can be found at a show, deejaying one, or bingeing a TV series at home with his wife and two cats.

Presented in partnership with BrooklynVegan.
