Dr. James Bonheur and nutritionist Barbara Parisi will lead an information session covering medical and surgical weight management options as well as the importance of a healthy diet for continued health and wellness.

Dr. James Bonheur, Division Director of Surgical Weight Management at Stamford Hospital, is board certified in general surgery and fellowship trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. Recognized as a leading surgical specialist, he expertly performs a variety of procedures that cure disease, improve quality of life and enhance appearance.

Dr. Bonheur is consistently voted as one of America’s Top Surgeons in the fields of minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery and venous disease. He’s been repeatedly selected as one of Connecticut’s top physicians and has been honored with the Patient’s Choice Award and the Most Compassionate Physician Award.

Throughout his training, Dr. Bonheur has held research and clinical positions affiliated with some of the world's greatest medical institutions, including Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston University, Columbia University affiliate Stamford Hospital and the New York College of Medicine affiliate Danbury Hospital. His research has been published in medical journals and he has presented at numerous national conferences, including the National Institutes of Health and the American College of Surgeons Clinical Conference.

Barbara Parisi is a registered dietitian who completed her dietetic internship and her master of science degree in nutrition at Lehman College in New York City. She has worked in in behavioral health at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY and in public health as the nutrition consultant for the Head Start program in Greenwich. She has been working at AMI Surgery for the past three year and has experience working with groups and individuals in weight management, medical weight loss and bariatrics.
