Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a panel discussion led by community leaders about the mental health challenges young people often face and the support they need to achieve wellness.

This program includes a screening of selections from the documentary series Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness, produced by Ken Burns, Ewers Brothers Productions and Florentine Films. The film gives voice to the experiences of 20 young people who bravely share their stories of struggles with mental health challenges, focusing on the importance of awareness and empathy.

Also available via Zoom here.

Post-pandemic, youth mental health issues are front and center in our community and the rest of the nation, and this event is an important step in raising awareness and reducing the stigma of mental illness, which often exists in secret and is endured in isolation. The most important step, and often the most difficult one, is to start talking about it.

Presented by the Ferguson Library and the Stamford Youth Mental Health Alliance.

Co-sponsored by the Bank of America.
