Christopher Shays served in the Unites States Congress from 1987 to 2009 as representative of the 4^th District of Connecticut. Previously he served 13 years in the Connecticut General Assembly. A socially progressive and fiscally conservative moderate Republican, Shays was known for having a strong and successful record of reaching across the aisle to address our nation’s problems.
