Event Details

Presentation of the Caring & Support for Seniors and Their Loved Ones workshop, led by experienced professionals in caregiving, healthcare advocacy, case management, insurance planning and daytime senior care, offers practical advice to today’s aging families, especially those navigating the growing gap between independence, affordability and long-term care options.

Ideal for family caregivers, seniors who want to plan ahead while maintaining independence, community members seeking trusted resources and representatives of organizations looking to provide meaningful, high-value programming.

The sessions covers:

  • How aging-related challenges often emerge gradually—not just during crises—and why early planning matters
  • The real-world caregiver dilemma facing millions of middle-income families who don’t qualify for Medicaid but can’t afford assisted living
  • The role of healthcare advocacy and case management in reducing stress, confusion, and preventable crises
  • Five essential resources every caregiver should know, including support groups, community programs, and daytime care options
  • How seniors can maintain dignity, social connection, and purpose while caregivers regain peace of mind

Panelists include:

Linda Ziac, a Connecticut licensed and nationally certified professional, has more than 50 years of experience working in the health and mental health field. In 1990, she created The Caregiver Resource Center, where seniors, people with special needs, and their loved ones could turn for support, find answers to their questions, and engage trained professionals to help them navigate the often confusing and overwhelming aging and healthcare maze. Her services include consultations to help deal with a current life situation; healthcare advocacy in the hospital, short term rehab or long term care facility; and aging.

Geoff Garfield has 30 years experience in financial services. He recently made final career move and is specializing exclusively in long-term care planning with nationally recognized Acsia Partners. He helps individuals and couples prepare for extended care costs. His expertise includes tax-qualified LTC strategies and state partnership plans where available, focused on asset protection and practical, easy-to-understand planning.

Gabe Corredor is the founder of Evergreen Daytime Senior Care, a hospitality-forward adult day program designed for older adults who want to stay socially, cognitively and emotionally engaged while aging at home. Inspired by his family’s personal experience navigating mild cognitive impairment and his professional experience as an operator in assisted living and memory care facilities, Gabe created Evergreen to reimagine what adult day care could feel like—less clinical, more human, and rooted in dignity, connection and joy.

Presented in partnership with The Caregiver Resource Center, Acsia Partners and Evergreen Daytime Senior Care.
