Event Details

anD, the words from a broken girl by Djuly Fleurant is a personal tour of Djuly’s life while growing up. From surviving an earthquake that left her home country of Haiti in shambles, to living in the suburbs of Connecticut, Djuly shares the challenges and lessons she learned in the first 20 years of her life. Dealing with loss, abuse, abandonment, learning how to prioritize herself, and her first love, Djuly comes to terms with her past in order to grow and heal.

“For the longest time, all I ever wanted was for someone to hold me and tell me that it’s okay and that everything was going to be okay. However, no one ever had the words, I mean how could they? I never expressed what I was feeling. No one ever knew what I was going through. My smile always betrayed what I felt and everyone assumed I was happy.” —from the Preface

Presented in partnership with Heart & Purpose.
