National Prescription Take Back Day Is Back

The Stamford Police Department, in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will join about 4,500 law enforcement agencies nationwide to participate in the National DEA National Prescription Take Back Day on Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During this time, Stamford residents are encouraged to remove unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications from their homes and turn them in for safe disposal at the Stamford Police Station drive-through at 725 Bedford Street. This service is free, anonymous and environmentally safe.

The DEA National Prescription Take Back Day, held twice a year, was started in 2011 as collective effort to keep unused prescription drugs from finding their way into the wrong hands, and thereby reduce medication misuse, opioid addiction, overdoses and overdose deaths.
