Ferguson Library to Reopen July 6

The Ferguson Library will begin a careful phased reopening beginning Monday, July 6 with walk-in service at the Main Library and Harry Bennett Branch. The South End and Weed Memorial & Hollander branches will follow later in the month.

Pursuant to state guidelines, all visitors and staff will be required to wear masks or other face coverings. Gloves are strongly recommended. Capacity will be reduced to allow for social distancing, and visiting time will be limited.

At the Main Library, service will be restricted to parts of the first floor. Customers will be able to pick up reserved materials, or browse briefly in the New Materials Room. The stacks will be closed, but staff will be on hand to help locate materials. The Children’s Room will not be open for browsing, but children’s materials will be available in the front room or by request. There will be a limited number of computers available for thirty minutes by appointment only. For technology appointments, please call 203 351-8231.

Passport services will also be available at the Main Library by appointment. Please call 203 351- 8248 for information. Renewals must be processed by mail, not at passport locations.

Curbside pickup will continue during this time to accommodate people who do not feel comfortable coming inside the building. Book drops are open for returns.

The Library is following state guidelines for regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces, and hand sanitizer will be provided.

Main Library hours:

  • Monday – Wednesday 11-6
  • Thursday 11 – 8
  • Friday & Saturday 11 - 5
  • Sunday 1 – 5

Harry Bennett Branch hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 12-5
  • Wednesday 12 – 7
  • Saturday 2-5
