Juneteenth, sometimes called Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the US. This year, the Ferguson Library, in partnership The Cultured Pearl Foundation and Picture That Art Consultants, will be celebrating Juneteenth on June 19 starting at noon. Our celebration will be marked with the restoration of the 2020 Black Lives Matter street mural and a tribute to African American Music Appreciation Month. The day’s events will begin with remarks from local dignitaries followed by activities including family sidewalk chalk art, storytime, a mobile vaccination clinic, community resource fair and musical performances.
