Newspaper & Magazine Databases

 

The Ferguson Library has made these reference databases available for the use of remote visitors. Select a database to search for articles on different topics from newspapers, magazines, or journals; local community; or government documents.  Some databases include images and/or the full text.

Please have your Ferguson Library card handy to use the databases. If you do not have a card, please visit your local Ferguson Library branch to obtain one.  Connecticut state residents may use their local library card number to access those databases that are marked with a (a blue bullet) next to them.

Academic One File - Provides articles from leading journals and reference sources. Covers the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other academic subjects.

EIUViewswire - Features business articles and country reports from the writers of the Economist.

The Ferguson Library E-Journals - List of all electronic magazines and journals accessible from the library's databases.

Boston Globe - Full text articles 1980-current.

ProQuest Newspapers - Stamford Advocate (2003-current), Boston Globe (1980-current), Christian Science Monitor (1988- current), Hartford Courant (1992-current), Los Angeles Times (1985-current), New York Times (1999-current), Wall Street Journal (1982-current), Washington Post (1987-current).

New York Times (1999-current ) - Full-text coverage of the US newspaper of record.

New York Times Historical (1851-2001) - Offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue.

Stamford Advocate - (1829-current)

Student Research Center: student-friendly version of the History and Science Reference Centers that provides the same high quality content. Choose content sources (Magazines, Newspapers, Biographies, Country Reports, Film & Video), browse by topic headings, use an online dictionary and encyclopedia, explore top searches of the day, and even limit searches according to reading levels.
