The Ferguson Library has made these reference databases available for the use of remote visitors. Select a database to search for articles on different topics from newspapers, magazines, or journals; local community; or government documents.  Some databases include images and/or the full text.

Please have your Ferguson Library card handy to use the databases.  If you do not have a card, please visit your local Ferguson Library branch to obtain one.  Connecticut state residents may use their local library card number to access those databases that are marked with a (a blue bullet) next to them.

Business & Company Resource Center - Business & Company Resource Center brings together in a single database company profiles, company brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies, and periodicals. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information.

Checkpoint - Web-based tax and accounting research tool that provides the most accurate and authoritative tax and accounting information available.

EIU Riskwire - Riskwire, which is included in EIU Viewswire, provides information on political stability, government effectiveness, local and regulatory, foreign trade, financial, tax and labor markets around the world.

EIUViewswire - Provides up-to-date, reliable and impartial analysis on worldwide market trends and business strategies by continuously assessing and forecasting political, economic and business conditions in almost 200 countries, and providing insight into how companies are responding.

Encyclopedia of Small Business - Contains articles and overviews of all the key information needs of small business owners, including financing, financial planning, business plan creation, market analysis, sales strategy, tax planning, and human resource issues.

Expanded Academic ASAP   - From arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology, this database meets research needs across all academic disciplines. Access scholarly journals, magazines and newspapers - with full text and images!

The Ferguson Library E-Journals - List of all electronic magazines and journals accessible from the library's databases.

FIS Online - Provides information on U.S. and international public companies. Unique for peer comparison and statistical analysis.

General Reference Center Gold - Use this general interest/business database to search magazines, newspapers, and reference books for information on business, industry, current events, the arts, science, entertainment, etc.   

InfoTrac OneFile   - Search humanities, education, business, science, current events, art, politics, economics, social science, law, health care, computers, technology, environmental issues, and general interest topics.

JSTOR - Search in 117 journals for full text articles and images.

Legal FormsLegal Forms - Provides a wide selection of state-specific (and multi-state) legal forms across the most popular legal areas. Includes real estate contracts, wills, pre-marital agreements, bankruptcy, divorce, landlord tenant and many others. Also included is a comprehensive attorney state directory and a dictionary of legal definitions explained in laymen's language.

LegalTrac - Indexes law reviews, legal newspapers, bar association journals and international legal journals. Also contains law-related articles from business and general interest titles.

Mergent Online - This state-of-the-art product provides Internet-based access to the most detailed, accurate and comprehensive global company database available, with the latest in features and functions.

New York Times - Full text version, with twelve month rolling archive.

Reference USAUS Businesses – Database of 14 million U.S. companies - search criteria include business name, size, sales, industry, and executive name.

Standard & Poor's Net Advantage  - Standard & Poor’s NetAdvantage is a comprehensive source of business and investment information, offering on-line access to popular Standard & Poor’s research products such as Industry Surveys, Stock Reports, Corporation Records, The Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives, The Outlook, Mutual Fund Reports among others.
