Literary Comp WinnersStamford Literary Competition – Encourage the young writers in your life - your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, students and friends - by urging them to enter our annual Stamford Literary Competition, sponsored by the Friends of The Ferguson Library and the Stamford Literary Competition Committee.  The goal of the competition is to recognize excellence in student writing.

Books for Babies – with Stamford Hospital. This program provides a free first book to every baby born at Stamford Hospital.

Supported Library Activities - The Friends co-sponsors programs with other community groups and organizations, including the Stamford Literary Competition, Reach Out and Read, Books for Babies and Adopt a Book.

Friends Author Series  - This fundraiser, established in 2011, brings popular authors to Stamford. The Friends partner with Elm Street Books, an independent book store in New Canaan, to select authors, as well as sell books at the events. As part of the experience, the Friends feature local restaurants, which donate appetizers for a wine reception beforehand.

To date, this series has attracted top flight authors and the reputation for the program has grown tremendously. With a modest ticket price of $15, it has developed a buzz as a fun night out and a chance to hear exciting authors.
