Shop Information & Selection

The Friends of The Ferguson Library operates the only retail used book shops in lower Fairfield County. The shops are located at the Main Library, and at the Harry Bennett branch. Shops are open during Library hours. The shops offer gently used books, movies and music at reasonable prices.
All items are donated by members of the community. Proceeds from the book shop support Friends and Library programming that is not funded by tax dollars, or other sources. The shops are staffed by an informed and friendly volunteer workforce.
Shop Selection
The Friends Book Shop stocks a range of fiction and non-fiction books, as well as music CDs, audiobooks on CD, and movies on VHS and DVD. Subjects range from popular fiction and mystery/suspense, to non-fiction cookbooks, art, history, science, children’s, and even antiquarian and collectible books. Our Main Library Shop stocks approximately 10,000 items, while our Harry Bennett Shop stocks approximately 4,000 items. Books are also available for purchase in the Starbucks adjacent to the Main Library.
Most books are priced at $5 or less. All books are cleaned before being offered for purchase. Books are in very good or better condition, and most are suitable for gift-giving.
Friends Members receive a 10% discount every day, on all purchases at the Main Shop, the Harry Bennett Shop, and beverages and snacks bought at Starbucks adjacent to the Main Library.
