Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a special service for getting information and materials not at
the Ferguson Library or its branches. If the material is of a new and/or popular nature that fits into our collections, we will consider purchase. Otherwise,
here are some options:
To use ILL,
please keep these guidelines in mind:
- You need a valid library card.
- You must live, own property OR work fulltime in Stamford.
- It takes an average time of 2
to 6 weeks to get a book.
- It takes an average time of 2
to 6 weeks to get a magazine article (copies are yours to keep).
- It takes an average time of 3 weeks to get census microfilm (consult Federal Population Census Internet site or our 2nd Floor Reference Desk)
- It is usually a free service but you will be asked to set a fee limit should the lending library charge us.

Our staff will instruct you on filling out an interlibrary form
(Email
the Interlibrary Loan
Department) or fill
out the online forms
below.
If you can't wait for your
material, you have the option of visiting another library. We will assist you in locating the material.
Here's how:
-
Call a library on
the ReQuest database
listed for the
material (please
call 351-8221,
351-8222, 351-8231,
351-8234 or 351-8292 about ReQuest).
- Calling the library to see if the material is there is always recommended (telephone numbers are listed in ReQuest).
- Ask the other library how to borrow or use the materials.
- Ask how to register your library card at the other library if borrowing is possible.
