Bright sunshine and cool
breezes made May 13, 2005 a
perfect day for the
long-anticipated groundbreaking
ceremony at the Weed Memorial
Branch Library!

Among those present were
distinguished members of the
Ferguson Library Board
(Chairperson Harry Romanowitz,
Ernie Abate, Gladys Cohen, Bill
Warrick) and Library staff,
Springdale Neighborhood
Association President Marilyn
Trefry, the honorable Moira
Lyons, former speaker of the
Connecticut General Assembly,
and state representative Donald
Sherer, as well as architects
from Perkins-Eastman and
construction engineers from
Encon Corp.

third grade students from
Springdale School.
The picture represents the close
relationship that already exists
between the school, the Library,
and the city.
The new, expanded Weed Branch
will be dedicated to serving
patrons of all ages, and as we
develop activities and programs
for children, it will become a
popular, year-round education
center.
